Conor Anthony McGregor is a professional MMA and UFC lightweight champion superstar. Conor might address the US Congress an amendment to the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act of 2000 to support the bill to extend the legal protection and the rights of MMA fighters according to Congressman and former fighter Markwayne Mullin.
Ali Act’s purpose was to protect the rights, integrity, and welfare of fighters from coercive contracts. Ali Act has been denounced regularly since it got legal. Moreover, it still provides boxers many rights other combat sports athletes lack. One benefit is access to financial information related to his or her bout. Under the Ali Act, boxing promoters are required to disclose “the amount of any compensation” a promoter stands to receive from a fight. Such is not the case in MMA.
Conor McGregor most valuable fighter the UFC has today and has been afforded opportunities other fighters simply have not. Former fighter Mullin is pushing for the Extension of Ali Act in September or October. We are not sure if Trash-talk superstar UFC fighter Conor has any direct involvement in this movement, so let’s hold our breath and wait for him to come out of his comfort zone and talk to media.
