Vitor Belfort is requesting his enhanced ‘TRTor’ version be accepted in his fight against Chris Weidman

Performance enhancing drugs are a slippery slope, at what point does taking in a substance make it “performance enhancing” and therefore illegal? It’s fairly obvious that taking in vitamins are performance enhancing, so why aren’t they illegal? I’m of the belief that in about a generation or so, when the current generation is out of power in sports, we’ll be living in a world of legal steroids in sports. It seems like an inevitable at this point, it’s becoming harder and harder to decipher what should be and what shouldn’t be allowed. I know there’s this romantic idea about pushing the human body to it’s limits, but at some point we are going to possess the ability to enhance the human body to astronomical levels. Not only will that be available but it’ll be readily available to the public.

There’s been a lot of hubbub about Vitor Belfort and where his fight with Chris Weidman will take place and if he’ll be allowed to use TRT. Vitor’s manager said in the MMA Hour earlier this week that he wont apply to use it, but yesterday Dave Meltzer reported that he will in fact apply for the use of TRT.

Now I can’t comment on the fact of TRT and it’s effect on fighting and honestly there are too many variables in MMA to ever say what effect it does have. I can say though, I do want to see the best possible Vitor Belfort because that’s just fun to watch and if that Vitor Belfort is on TRT so be it.
