There you have it. After all the hype, the crazy Conor McGregor debacle, then Anthony Pettis missing weight, Max Holloway finally got in there with Pettis and had themselves a scrap. It was hard to follow Doo Ho Choi and Cub Swanson nearly killing themselves and Cowboy Cerrone headkicking Matt Brown into another dimension, but the fact that Holloway finally reached his peak was good enough.

Besides an early knockdown and a beautiful sweep, the fight was close but always favored Holloway who was more aggressive and edged out each round. At some point, Pettis says he injured his hand and Holloway turned up the heat. He simply hit him until the ref stopped it to become the interim champion.

Finally, after 10 wins straight, Holloway gets somewhere leaving no doubt he is elite. …Of course, getting to fight #JoseWaldo for the “undisputed” featherweight strap after beating the biggest fight of his life can create so much excitement that the human body can’t handle it. Max Holloway had to straight up run and fling himself out of the Octagon like he was a pro wrestler jumping off the top rope.
