In some timeline Max Holloway is still uncorking body blows on the fallen body of a 148 pound Anthony Pettis. UFC 206 was the crowning of MMA’s new Hawaiian king. Make an offering at the alter of King Holloway and it doesn’t really matter if he won an interim belt at UFC 206 because this dude worked hard to get there.
Since dropping back to back fights in 2013, Holloway has run off ten consecutive victories inside the UFC. A ten fight win streak at the sport’s pinnacle is a crowning achievement for anyone and Holloway deserved his moment to bask in the glory after destroying Pettis at UFC 206.
Maybe the best post-fight moment for Holloway wasn’t his swanton bomb over the cage, interview with Joe Rogan or his gold colored tied he rocked at the presser but it might have been a Facetime call he made to his son in the locker room. The bond between father and son time stamped with live phone call minutes after Holloway’s biggest career bullet point is as emotional as this sport can get.
