Replay: MMA legend Akihiro Gono got face planted and KO’d over the weekend

If they fight long enough all of your MMA heroes will eventually end up face first on the mat. Akihiro Gono and his elaborate walkouts should not be going out like this. Fighting for World Series of Fighting WSOF Global Championship (or WSOFGC for short), Gono co-main evented the promo’s second show in Japan over the weekend.

Since retiring after getting knockout by Michael Chandler way back in 2012, the 41 year old Gono has fought five more times. This is the same Gono who fought in Shooto, Pride, Deep, and Pancrase. For all that is holy the 5’8 something 170 pound soaking wet Gono has career wins over Hector Lombard and Gegard Mousasi.

Now Gono is losing brain cells in half empty Japanese arenas to anonymous Slovakia fighters named Miroslav Strbak. This sucks.

H/T to @GrabakaHitman for the video
