Nick Diaz vs. Jay Hieron by the end of 2009

Here’s a brief summary of how you pass a drug test with the California Athletic Comission. Don’t take the test. That’s it, just don’t take the friggin test. It’s a sure shot to get by the CSAC substance test but the only catch is you will have to dip out of a Strikeforce welterweight title fight. A lot of people were outraged when Diaz decided to skip the drug test in order to get licensed to fight Jay Hieron in last night’s Strikeforce card. See, Diaz is a card carrying medical marijuana member which essentially means he can legally spark one up whenever he wants to. He had a deal with the old CSAC administration that enabled him to smoke all the marijuana he wanted because they would not test for that specific substance. Now that old administration is out and the new one is in, Diaz thought that the same ‘pro-bud’ mandate would carry over but unfortunately it didn’t. If Diaz took the drug test and failed, he would have been prohibited from fighting in California for an entire year. Diaz did the smart thing and dipped out of one fight to save him from sitting out until July 2010.

Now Scott Coker has confirmed Nick Diaz vs. Jay Hieron will happen by the end of the year and we’re assuming that it indeed will be for the welterweight title that was promised to Hieron just after he got dropped from Affliction. Hieron. Dude. I hope this actually manifests (big word alert) into an actual fight. [Source]
