Frankie Edgar Feels That It’s Time For Him to Get Another Title Shot

Frankie Edgar is kind of the Little Engine That Could. Whenever you see Frankie Edgar is fighting, you know that you can expect him to be in peril a few times and that the fight will probably be pretty close and back-and-forth. Of course, that was thrown out the window in the last BJ Penn fight, but we have all collectively decided that we will not acknowledge the existence of that fight.

What fight?

Last night’s fight against Cub Swanson was one for the record books, that much is sure. Cub Swanson was promised a UFC Featherweight Championship shot in the future, but now Frankie Edgar has defeated him. Does that mean that Frankie gets a shot now? The fans seem to want to see Conor McGregor get his shot and it feels like if he beats Denis Siver he’s probably on deck, meaning that taking time out to match up McGregor and Frankie doesn’t seem like the best way to do things, but hey, what do I know?

Here’s Frankie making his kind of argument for being a contender. Seriously, Frankie. Show that you want it. Stop being so wishy-washy. Say “I’m the real #1 contender,” damnit. “I think I’ve done enough” seems to lack that fire, that passion that McGregor brings to the table. That’s what he has to compete with right now, the outside of the ring stuff.
