Even though Chris Weidman’s next title fight won’t be in the state of New York, his next title fight in the UFC will probably be versus someone who used to be in Strikeforce. Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo Jacaré both want to get the next crack at Weidman’s middleweight belt. The UFC’s grand plan was to have Weidman vs. Rockhold headline the promotion’s debut event in New York City.
Then for the sixth consecutive year New York state politicians turned down the idea of legalizing professional MMA in there state. Weidman was bummed and the UFC may now turn towards a more lizard based approach for his next title fight. Close social media observers noticed that as soon as the MMA bill in New York failed, Weidman started to online chest bump with Jacaré. Will Rockhold be left at the altar holding flowers and without a fight contract?
