With Strikeforce's upcoming demise and the UFC lightweight division sifted of all title contenders, Dana White has looked to Strikeforce lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez as the next member of team 209 to attempt to defeat current indomitable force Benson Henderson. Gilbert, always the guy to settle LayzieTheSavage down from the title talk, placed a figurative palm out to relax our cameraman of the stars to remind him that nothing is certain until contracts are signed and handshakes are made. But still, both dudes seem pretty excited.

Layzie caught up with a clean-shaven Gil to discuss the UFC lightweight division, Nate Diaz losing to Ben Henderson, and of course, Gilbert's thoughts and feelings on Benson's now infamous toothpick. And not a single Oakland Raiders joke was made.

It's not trolling to point out that Cesar Gracie fighters have only been able to earn a title shot by beating the scrubs (and Hendo) that were in Strikeforce. Nate got his title shot by beating Gomi, Cerone, and Miller. Considering what it takes others to get a title shot it was gifted to him. Nick easily lost rounds 1,3,4, and 5 to Condit and you don't understand striking if you think he won. Sheilds got outclassed by GSP and lost to Kampman before his shot. Now Gilbert is going to get his shot without beating anyone in the top 20 and losing all of his fights with Josh Thompson in my opinion, though they were close.

Me saying that I hope he fails his drug test would be trolling. You thinking I'm trolling for stating a reasonable and common opinion shows your idiocy and rampant fanboyism.

who gives a shit really tho...Gilbert is exciting, mma is entertainment not a sport...doesn't mean I don't think it's awesome! ...I think it's cool to watch a couple sweaty buff dudes in their undies fighting in a cage trying tog exploit each others openings in a explosive way, right Joe?!? I went to an event here in sac you can't even see into that fucking cage lol it would be cool if they got rid of elbows and would fight in a ring, there would be more submissions and the crowd would be able to see what's happening without looking past the cameramen... It would also be cool if people would be excited for an entertaining fight instead getting all nerdy and complaining (mr. 101) I'm going on a tangent, I'm taking a dump at work
