The transformation is complete. Jon Jones has finally made his shift to the dark side and opened up about UFC 151 like the wrath of the Death Star on the planet-moon Alderaan, unleashing a verbal onslaught the likes of which we've never seen from the light heavyweight champ. Now we know that UFC 151 is the equivalent of Anakin Skywalker's Padme dying at childbirth. It has awoken something in Jon Jones, and now woe to the men who step in front of him trying to take his title. 'Darth Bones Jones,' may God help us all.

Bones opened up about the UFC 151 fiasco to The Toronto Sun and got a bunch of feelings off of his chest, some of which some would say are angry. We all know anger leads to hate, hate leads leads to suffering, which leads to...The dark side.

“I haven’t said that anywhere, but you can be the first to put that out,” Jones said over the phone. “There’s some unfinished business, for sure. I don’t think Henderson handled the situation wisely, by making fun of me for not taking the fight (against Sonnen). Dude, you just dodged a bullet and you’re talking trash to me? You got injured and you’re going to talk trash that I didn’t fight Chael?

 

“He came out with this ad that said, ‘Buy a Hendo shirt and get a free Jon Jones shirt to dry your car off with.’ You’re making fun of me, yet you got hurt and dodged a bullet? You’re sitting at home with ice on your knee and I’m here doing pushups again because I thought my camp should have been over. I have stuff to do and you’re sitting around your home playing video games, or whatever you do during the day.

“Training camps suck, bro. Training camps suck. The fight is the fun part. So I’ve got to suffer all over again, do a training camp all over again, and you’re at home, laying down, having somebody feed you soup and you’re going to make fun of me because you got hurt?

“You should shut up and be grateful you dodged a bullet.”

“I do something and it’s the worst thing in the world. Then when someone else does it, it’s almost OK. Chael says all this crazy stuff, but then I say something slight and it’s like, ‘Oh, that was the cockiest thing I’ve ever heard.’ Dan Henderson called me a kid 1,000 times leading up to that fight and we never even fought. I call him an old man once and the whole world was like, ‘You freakin’ age discriminator. You’re such a bad person.’

“Wow. I can’t get away with anything and everyone else does pretty much whatever they want"

“I just want to reward the fans with a great fight, so they can remember why they’re all supposed to be here.”

I would make the argument that Jones' new role as a 'bad guy' is going to actually improve his PPV value. More people are going to tune in because they want to see him get knocked out. If anything Jones' decision to pass on the Chael fight has done nothing but open up more options for him in a division that was on the verge of getting stale. The public has spent the last three weeks discussing John Jones and he hasn't even fought yet and it's not about his upcoming fight.

Because he pulled out of a 151 matchup with Chael, he now has 3-5 fights lined up for him. A match-up against Vitor, followed by Sonnen sometime early next year which could be the most promoted match of all time. Then he could follow that with Henderson and then move onto Gustaffson and Teixara after giving them enough time to develop greater fan appeal.

If you really think about it Jones has only increased the demand for his fights. Since his decision to pull out of 151 every interview I've heard with other MMA fighters has at least one question in regards to Jones and him pulling out of the fight. He has now become the pulse of the sport whether you like it or not. He's going to have the highest PPV totals and the highest grossing fights for the next few years or until he loses.

Shit, it's three weeks out since his decision and people are still finding ways to write stupid articles about it. There hasn't been one card all year people write about three weeks after. So John Jones may have just made the greatest decision in his career. He out Chael'd, Chael Sonnen.
