UFC 148 was destined to be the biggest UFC event ever in the entire world when Dana came out and announced it was to be held in a soccer stadium in Brazil.  Unfortunately, the numbskull who scheduled the UN convention in Brazil that same weekend ruined my dream of watching Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen fight gladiator style amongst a crowd of 85,000 Portuguese death threat chanting Brazilians. The UN is always mucking up people's happiness.

It also spoiled UFC 148's chance at going down as (for now) the biggest UFC event ever in the entire solar system. Right now that record is held by UFC 129 in Toronto with a crowd of over 55,000 screaming Canadians. Seems like the UFC's new theme song should be Pitbull's 'International Love' as they get the most love when venturing to places outside of the United States.

Despite the UN's bad timing, UFC 148 still did go on in the city deemed as the 'fight capital of the world'-Las Vegas, NV. And it did still break the live gate and attendance count for any prior UFC events held in the USA according to official numbers released by the NSAC earlier this week. MMAjunkie.com is reporting the live gate for UFC 148 as $6.9 million and a 15,104 attendance. This makes it the biggest UFC event ever held in the USA. The prior live gate record holding event was UFC 66: Lidell vs Ortiz II and the top attendance was UFC 94: St. Pierre II at 14,885. [Source]

i saw an interview with Dana when he was questioned about the buy rate and he said it didn't make 1000000 buys but it was still a very good number. i guess by danas reaction about 8000000 mark
