When Cesar Gracie drops a Nick Diaz update, it crashes to earth like a meteor with a grudge. Twenty four hours ago we didn't even know Nick Diaz wanted to fight Anderson Silva, now the internet has sent out mass emails and everyone is coordinating colors and dividing like-minded fans into these vicious camps:

Nick Diaz can't beat Carlos Condit - so he fights Anderson?

Anderson Silva is ducking Chris Weidman.

Anderson Silva won't go up to 205, but he will fight a welterweight.

Anderson Silva Vs. Nick Diaz is the greatest thing I've heard since the announcement of Assassins Creed 3's co-op multiplayer.

As a fan of Nick Diaz, I am quickly becoming a nonfan of Nick Diaz. The Gracie team has really been losing a lot of respect since Nick Diaz has joined the UFC. Not because of his fights, but because they all are running their mouths too much. It's really just getting old, they need to shut up and take the fights they are given at this point.

I didn't say that's when he started talking shit, but now is when it has got to the point of just being absurd. He couldn't definitively beat Condit, regardless of how Condit was fighting, yet he calls out Anderson Silva? Get the fuck out of here with this bullshit.

Nick had his shot at the (interim) title, it didn't go his way, so now he is trying to get another immediate title shot in the next division. Maybe he should work his way to another title shot. He shouldn't have rage quit after losing and then decided to come back talking shit like it never happened.

People need to stop treating him like a goddamn child all the time telling him the things he wants to hear and tell him the truth, which is that he is being a shit head and making his whole team look like a joke.

Why should Nick Diaz get special treatment and only get title fights? There are plenty of good fights for him in the UFC that do not involve getting a title shot. If he hates this sport so much now that he will only fight if he is the champion, than he needs to leave it. If it's his ego that is the problem, someone needs to put him in his place.

And before you all jump on me saying he won the Condit fight, I'm not going to get into it. I thought Condit's game plan was crap as much as anyone else does, but it doesn't change the fact that it was an official lose for Nick.

You know what I liked about Pride? It's that they didn't give a fuck. We have this bad Russian motherfucker. Just to show you that he's not a chump we'll have him fight this 400 pound behemoth and watch him knock the guy out. See, our fighters play for keeps.

Now I'm not saying Nick Diaz vs. Silva is a freak-show squash match. Far from it. It's a pure spectacle. An entertaining fight. A sure-fire moneymaker. Fans are happy, the fighters are motivated; only hardcore mma-forum posters can bitch and moan about pointless semantics. These are the same people that refuse to accept that UFC isn't JUST a sporting event. It wants to draw money, and superfights do that.

Like I said, as long as it's not a title fight, then you aren't compromising the integrity of the 185 weight division.

This isn't going to happen, if it did Anderson would crush Nick anyway. Nick wouldn't take it unless Anderson met him at a catchweight, and why would he do that? I like Nick but he's never beaten a top ten legit welterweight who was in his prime, plus he lost his last fight and has a history of flaking out on things. I'd rather see Nick come back and fight somebody like Jake Ellenberger or the loser of Hendricks-Kampm ann and if he wins that give him a number one contender fight.

This isn't Strikeforce or EliteXC where he can just do whatever he wants because there aren't a lot of people to fight. He can't bounce around and fight mediocre, smaller or washed up competition, lose big fights and expect to just get what he wants. He's never really proven himself against top guys, sorry, but he hasn't. Let him get his personal issues taken care of and let the guy put together some a few wins. I think all of this hype and pressure makes him retreat back into his shell even more or something, he can't seem to handle it well. Let alone he just has little to offer Anderson in a fight.

Probably more for publicity than anything, he wouldn't even fight Mayhem at that weight, and he made Scott Smith and Frank Shamrock face him at a catchweight. It's a pipe dream, a chance that he wouldn't get or even deserve since he came off a loss, and I seriously doubt he'd take it without stipulation. It's kind of like Volkmann calling out Hector Lombard, gets attention, but pretty easy to do since it won't ever happen. The Diaz camp has people talking about him though, pretty good business.

Also why would the UFC give Diaz a middlewight title fight when Weidman, Bisping, Boetch etc.. have yet to get their shots?

Great payday, but it ends at that. If Ando finishes Nick it would be horrible for his career. Cesar is already talking catch weight too, the whole thing seems sketchy as fuck. Dana loves money, but I doubt he'd bite on this.

That said I think Nick is a much more legit threat to finish Ando than Chael ever was. I see it by sub though because if Nick couldn't corner and finish Condit with strikes then I doubt he'd do so against Silva. Silva is and should be the fav, anyone who says otherwise is delusional
