The last time I saw Tim Sylvia was at a post-fight press conference in Worchester, MA after he beat Mariusz Pudzianowski. He asked me to pass him a bottle of water and then pointed out my fly was down. Amazingly, he was the first person to notice my zipper was at half-staff the entire evening. Either the lighting at the DCU Center was dim, or Tim Sylvia has owl-like vision and extraordinary attention to detail. If Mariusz Pudzianowski understood English, he probably would have joined Roxanne Modafferi, Butterbean, and the rest of the room enjoying a laugh at my wardrobe-malfunction’s expense. Props to The Fight Nerd for the emotional support thereafter.

I’m sure some of you are confused by the news from Steven Marrocco at MMA Junkie that Tim Sylvia has signed with Strikeforce. It caught us off-guard as well. The process of getting back into the top of the food chain has to start somewhere, and since he feels like he can beat 80% of the current UFC heavyweight roster, Daniel Cormier should be an interesting first step. We’re so happy for Tim Sylvia that we’re going to show you footage of his last fight where he knocked his opponent out in twelve seconds.

Update: It appears Dana White refuted MMA Junkie's story. Bummer.

I dont think Cormier needs lay-ups like this. We saw what he did to Silva, Tim is even slower and morr plodding than Bigfoot. Wagner, Mercer WTF.
This fight makes no sense. Its harder enough for Tim to hit 265 &his bread and butter long jab of yesteryear means nothing in this fight.
Dont get me wrong, I will still watch, but Lashley, and McCorkle are better choices at this point.
It sucks that the pickings are so slim, and Tim is morr interested in a big payday than building hisself back up the right way.

I wish they would send hunt over for the fight though. But anyways, this might be the first time that I make a straight bet on a 1000 point favorite.

my guess is that it's due to contractual obligations. He had to have one more fight under the strikforce banner and after moving the heavyweights to the big show who else was he to fight? Not to mention his contender status could be ruined by fighting someone better. Dude's gotta take it easy until cain does or doesn't get the belt so he can have a shot for himself

I don't think anyone have remembers the fact that Tim got finished by Ray Mercer and TUF reject Abe Wagoner in under a minute combined. It also seems as if everyone forgot the Munson title fight and his fight with Brandon Vera. Why anyone wants to suffer through watch Tim is beyond me, and I'm tired of hearing about how he was good a billion years ago.
