Managers generally get a percentage of a fighters purse. Fedor gets paid 300k when he fought for Affliction, while Vadim earned a $1.8 million in "consulting fees". Fair right? Affliction ultimately died because Josh Barnett tested positive for steroids, but M-1 got paid, while nobody else did, and they had no other choice but to close/sell the promotion. M-1 does a great job as a partner when it comes to making money, but when it comes to sustaining losses, they're the first to grab the money and run.

Pride was on life support by the time the UFC bought it, just like the remainder of JMMA is today. While it's incredibly popular in Japan, it's horridly mismanaged, partially due to mob ties, partially due to greed. Lots of fighters are still owed money from their performances in Japan... The promoters got paid, while the fighters did not. M-1 is the only org that celebrated when the times were great, but were nowhere to be found when times were bad.

As for Strikeforce, they invested heavily in a partnership with M-1 under the expectation that Fedor would pay off, and instead, he went 1-3. After the bust, they opted to sell because they didn't have the investors/budge t to buy top-teir talent. Had Fedor won all 4 fights, we wouldn't be having this conversation... Strikeforce could boast the GOAT HW and the UFC couldn't possibly fire back with a cohesive response. Instead, the org busted by betting on the dark horse.

In addition to splitting PPVs and broadcasting rights, M-1 Global essentially took 50-60% of every business it co-promoted with - all the while, delivering nothing of value except Fedor to the organizations. It's essentially the equivalent of A-Rod coming to the Yankees and asking for half their total revenue for his services, and an additional few million for his manager. The only reason any company decided to take the gamble was because Fedor was undefeated, and he had could potentially help another organization surpass the UFC's popularity. They all tried, they all failed.

I'll say it straight out. Any company that habitually renegotiates the contract after every single win are bad business partners, and I have no doubt that their unstoppable greed and willingness to backtrack and stall for more money at every turn made the promotions they were feeding off a lot weaker and prone to fail. Are they solely responsible? Probably not. You would have to desperate to get in bed with M-1. Did they help? Hell yes.


The only reason they could get away with it is because of the Cult of Fedor. Cults gone now, and guess what--- he's fighting random guys in Russia. That tells you how eager people are to deal with M-1.

Fedor should be receiving royalties from being shown in those cards.

M-1 Global is broke... Fedor gets next to nothing compared to his management.

To be fair, it wasn't Fedor ducking, it was M-1. I whole-heartedly believe that Fedor would fight any man put in front of him. M-1 mismanaged his career, subsequently ruining it.
