Thiago Alves is fighting John Howard at UFC 124 and we're all going to like it

Thiago Alves is fighting John Howard at UFC 124 and we're all going to like it

A couple of days ago on MMAJunkie radio, Mike Pierce called out Thiago Alves and had some pretty decent smack talk regarding Alves on Facebook. On Twitter, Pierce said 'This place is as dead as Thiago Alves' and 'Thiago Alves to be featured on Biggest Loser on Dec 23rd'. He even asked Dana to gi...

KJ Noons thinks Nick Diaz is a trash-talking, pot-smoking chump

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Nick Diaz and KJ Noons rivalry, the beef started back in Elite XC where a controversial doctor stoppage handed Diaz his only loss in the past 3 years. Winning a fight due to a doctor stoppage in the first round is a lot like winning a competitive ea...

Karo Parisyan is BACK in the UFC!

I could be looking too far into it, but when Dana says that you '[Expletive] the UFC' by pulling out of the fight the day before weigh-ins, it looks like that may denote a lifetime ban. In fact, it did constitute a lifetime ban in the promotion, but in ZUFFA years, a lifetime is only ten months....

Overeem accepts Fedor's challenge, plans to fight him after K-1

The greatest thing about Alistair Overeem accepting Fedor's challenge to fight him after he's done with the K-1 Grand Prix is that he actually watched a Bloodstain Lane video on a message board and responded. Next step for Alistair Overeem is to accept my friend request on Xbox Live. The guy plays...

Dan Henderson and Gegard Mousasi may get the next Strikeforce title shots, despite coming off losses

A lot of people criticized Strikeforce’s decision to give Brett Rogers a title shot immediately following his loss to Fedor Emelianenko last year. This past spring, Ubereem agreed with those critics as he made short work of Rogers and ended his first title defense in just shy of four minutes. ...

Brett Rogers says Fedor is NOT a machine, claims he took 0% damage in the fight PDF Print E-mail
Written by Zeus
Monday, 30 November 2009 09:57

Brett Rogers took some time to reattach his head after his recent bout with Fedor to talk to M-1 Global about his two round experience with The Last Emperor. The last time Fedor went to the second round with anyone was back in 2006 when he managed to polish off Mark Coleman with an armbar at the 1:16 mark at Pride 32. Despite catching his first mat nap in Chicago, Brett Rogers says Fedor has flaws, is not a machine and if he was facing a different direction on the mat...the fight would have not been stopped.

Does have weaknesses? We all do – isn’t that what makes champions great – they win even with weaknesses? They win even though they can be beat? He is not a machine.

I was never worried about getting submitted. It was funny – people outside of myself and my trainers were so worried about that; but my Jujitsu is very solid. I felt I was close to getting him on the ground; but hey the guy is really good; he got out of danger.

M-1 Global asked what was is biggest mistake in the fight, dude said he was laying on the mat wrong.

Well honestly was covering the wrong way when I got knocked down; If I had turned the other direction John would have seen me better and not stopped the fight.

Some of you may remember the beef Rogers had with Ubereem last summer (back when people called him 'Overeem'), well it was resuscitated this week when Rogers called the demigod out.

I want to fight soon, and I want to fight Alistar. I’m 100% healthy and took zero damage in the fight; so I’m ready to go right now. As I said Strikeforce is my home; I love Strikeforce and in my opinion Alistar holding the title belt is an insult to every fighter in this organization, every fan and to Scott Coker. Champions defend their titles. And either Scott strips him and real fighters battle for it; or I will take it off him the hard way.

Fedor vs. Rogers II? I'm down and I'm pretty sure the 25,000,000 people across the planet that watched it will simultaneously be down as well. [Source]

That's the thing about brain damage, you're never aware of it until it's too late.

Poor Rogers.

If he's so good a BJJ why was he turning away from Fedor instead of turning into him??????? What a bunch of crap he was done!!!!!

Did any of you watch that fight? or did you just tune in right when the one punch happened? I don't know what's more ridiculous, the fact that fans can't see Fedor was dominated up until that punch? the fact that Fedors fans think one punch against Arlovski, or Rogers, see it as Fedor being dominate? Every fighter makes mistakes. I wonder what the Fedor fans are gonna say when he loses? Are they gonna pick apart the fighter that beat him for the style they beat him in? Or, are they gonna talk crap about him? Watch the fight again, Rogers was not out...at all! After Big John stopped the fight, they made him lay down. Rogers was not finished. Rogers vs Fedor 2, I definately want to see!

I been on here before, dont bad mouth me. Its my opinion, and it is just a website.

WHEN he loses....

You could be waiting a while. Everyone was supposed to be a "challenge" for Fedor, everyone was hyped up against Fedor and everyone's gone down. Sylvia, Arlovski, Barnett (if it had happened) and now Rogers.

Seriously, you haven't been following MMA for very long if watching the Rogers fight has you casting doubts on Fedor, he's cleaned up much tougher guys who had him in some REAL trouble.

Rogers landed a glancing blow that opened up a cut his brother Alex gave him in training and managed about two or three jabs from the top before Fedor tried the armbar.

How is that domination?

What the? How was Fedor being dominated before he KO'd Rogers? Prior to the KO Fedor had Rogers rocked, stunned, dazed, by a 2 punch combo while Rogers landed a jab (that re-opened a pre-existing cut), and about 4 shots GnP none of which fazed Fedor. So I have to pose the same question you asked, Did you watch any of that fight or did you just tune in when that one punch happened? I'm not bad mouthing you, you just made a bold statement saying Fedor was being "dominated" when you never cited any examples or backed it up, while I have just provided evidence that indicates otherwise.

Yes, did watch the fight about 30 + times (not kidding)... and Fedor was not getting dominated. In fact, the leg play that Fedor supposedly saw that allowed him to KO Rogers was figured out in the first round. You can see that Fedor notices Rogers loading up his lead leg for jabs. Fedor actually tries to capitalize off this right away in the first round and at the beginning of the second. Watch Rogers set up when he get's KO'd and rewind the tape. Fedor can see it way early... If anything Fedor should apologize for not ending it in the first.

So if you think figuring out another fighter in the first round and taking a bit of damage in order to find that window is being then dominated then I am an idiot.

Fedor $%@$in owned Rogers. Damage or whatever. Doesn't #$%%in matter.

Agreed though... Bog Jon stopped it a little prematurely, but then again... Fedor's GnP is one of the best. Probably stopped him from getting really hurt. Any of you think Fedor wouldn't have really finished Rogers off if he were allowed another 30 seconds? Comon... it would have been bad.

Yep. Fedor would have raped his face with hammer fists. Brett has Big John to thank for not needing plastic surgery post fight.

wow after reading this i just found out how many people dont know shit about mma. first off yes fedor did drop him and maybe the fight wouldnt have been over if rogers wouldnt have balled up covering his face. honestly fedor can loss. thats why he doesnt sign with ufc cause he knows ufc has many credible heavyweights that are gonna pose as huge threats to him being so great. yea he has beat arlovski(with a lucky punch) and sylvia who we all know was never really that good anyways. Brock will destroy fedor.

We've seen Fedor in trouble many times before. But he ALWAYS finds a way to win, that's the beauty of it all. Maybe Rogers was winning the first round, but who cares? He didnt win the fight.

Fedor was losing to Arlovski, but landed a clean overhand to knock him square out. You can argue he was losing against Hong Man Choi, until he pulled gard and caught him in an armbar, same with Lindland. Those were his most recent bouts but let's not forget the Kevin Randleman's suplex, or when he was almost finished by Fujita. Fedor is not a robot, but we have yet to see anyone finish him off.

BTW - there was no doubt Rogers was out after that punch.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah fucking cry me a river seriously.

"Fedor was losing until he.... Fedor was getting owned until he...."

...Until he fucking KO'ed the other prick and won the fucking fight. What more does he have to do? Decapitate people?
Jesus, sore losers coming out of the woodwork.

You wonder how these idiots don't cry about fighters like Nogeuira who literally get borderline knocked out for 2 rounds before submitting people.

brett rogers is on the front end of a bunch of losses if you ask me, he is now exposed, and big punchers have a better chance of taking him out now that he as been ko'd
Hes good, but i think he still has a lot to learn!!

I think its clear to everyone that Fedor lost the 1st round, but he won the fight, same can be said about the Arlovski fight, Arlovski was out boxing him and fighting a good fight, until he made a mistake and Fedor made him pay. Fedor has looked pretty bad in his last two fights in my opinion. I would have liked to see him fight Barnett because I think Barnett could have put up a good fight against him, probably would have just got overhand righted like everyone else.

my advice to flyweight125fighter, is if you have nothing good to say about Fedor, don't say anything because all that is going to happen is you are going to get a shit storm or abuse from the insane Fedor fans out there. Its not worth it man. Its just not worth it. If you don't think Fedor is the greatest man to ever live and that he is the second coming of Jesus, then just keep it to yourself.
