No matter who you are or how old you get, never forget the things people are saying about Jon Bones Jones mirrors what people said about Lyoto Machida back in 2008-2009. The term 'Machida Era' wouldn't exist if it didn't have some sort of merit. For years, no one could develop a method to successfully tag Machida in a fight. He was elusive, sort of like that low-hanging booger residing in the back of your nose. You know it's there, you've exerted all efforts on fishing it out with your finger -- but it's simply impossible to remove. That's Machida, he's snot -- but only in the most positive way imaginable. Never count out a guy that did this to an incredibly tough Rashad Evans.

Now that we're on the verge of seeing another rematch between The Dragon and and Bones Jones, one could easily be under the impression that he will approach Jon Jones like he did Dan Henderson at UFC 157. If those same tactics are successfully applied, then one can only assume that he will dominate Jones, as he said he did to Hendo in this ESPN interview after last weekend's fight.

DUDE....Machida acted like he was in a karate point match. I'm all for good footwork, bobbing and weaving but if you don't engage you did't fight. I hope Jones clowns him again

Machida fought a safe fight - He didn't fight to win, he fought not to lose. It was essentially standing Lay and Pray. He was at an advantage but wasn't able to do anything to finish the fight.

I think it was clear that he won, whether it was worth watching is the question.

Funny seeing all the wrestlers on twitter whining that Machida didn't come to fight, but if you don't "embrace the grind" they consider you a "hater". If Dan held Lyoto down for three rounds everyone would be talking about how dominent Hendo was. Dan was looking for his one punch knockout and Machida was looking to counter it with his own one punch knockout, that's why they spent so much time standing in front of each other.

Here is the difference, if you look for a counter only, that means your opponent has to be active for you to do that- takedown and lay and pray might be as lame, but they are initiated by the attacker... other then that when did henderson ever do such a thing? i wish judges could add extra rounds in cases like that.

don't think he can do that to Jones tho. bobbing in and out of someone else's range is only efficient when their reach is somewhat close to yours. he may get a couple in, like their first match, but unless he has a new unexpected strategy, don't see it ending with a W for the japanobrasileir o.
