I realize this very well. I also realize that this is exactly the reason why he does this.
What you fail to realize is that Guida is just playing the game.
As soon as the judging criteria changes, Guida's fighting style changes. It doesn't change by calling him names.
He doesn't deserve that, because although I don't know him personally, through the interviews I can see he is actually a very nice and cool guy.
And if I ever had the honor of meeting him I'd shake his hand and try to throw in a hug somewhere.

Guida wouldn't have fought like that in Pride, because he'd know that he'd lose the fight and get yellow carded, but this style in the UFC gets him a W, a step closer to the title and a bigger paycheck. Why wouldn't he do it?
So he gets "respect" from these so called mma fans who are mainly bandwagon hoppers anyway?
He'd rather have the W, job security and a bigger paycheck. I can't hate on that.
Hioki did the same thing to George Roop(to a lesser extent).
And also then I didn't hate on Hioki, but realized he just understood what the UFC judges were looking for.


In soccer there used to be a rule where you could play the ball back to your own goalkeeper and the goalkeeper could pick up the ball with his hands.
This led to incredibly boring matches when one team was ahead, because the ball kept getting kicked back to the goalkeeper.
Instead of calling all the soccer players who did this all kind of names, they changed the rule and the goalkeeper can't pick up the ball up anymore with his hands.
The result was that this didn't happen anymore and the matches became more exciting again.

So instead of hating on the fighters who are just playing the cards that are presented to them, hate on the shitty organization and crappy judging system the UFC has.

Fuck Zuffa. Fuck UFC. Fuck Dana White.
But respect to all fighters.
