Brace Yourselves! Bannerlord is Indeed Coming!

There aren’t many games out there that get love just for the sake of getting love from us here at MiddleEasy, but there is one game that Jason has said “just keeps on giving,” which would be Mount & Blade: Warband. Whenever there is a Steam sale one of us will end up pushing it off on at least a friend or two and will try to publicly shame you, the readers, into purchasing the game. The reasoning is very simple; Warband is quite simply one of the best multiplayer games on the market that has a small, but passionate community of skilled players. The game is all based upon skill and when you start doing well — or at least getting off a few blocks, parries and chambers — it feels great.

There has been some concern over Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Why concern? Taleworlds has been putting out blogs about the game for a while now, the game originally announced in 2012, and there is still no release date. Then, to top it off, there wasn’t a blog entry since May. May, that is a very long time to be faithful to the Mount & Blade series while holding out hope. Well, that hope is no longer in vain, because Taleworlds has given us a new update, finally.

This update gives us some clues into what the single player story will look like as well as what factions and weapons will be available. Bannerlord takes place about 200 years before Warband, focusing on when Calradia (the in-game continent) was unified under one king with many city-states under it. There will be individual clans who all look, feel and act differently and in Bannerlord they promise to give more background into each clan, helping them to all feel more unique. So the promise is a series of quests before the game turns into an open sandbox like the Warband singleplayer (which was truly fantastic in its own way).

So check out the blog and remember, because it’s the Mount & Blade community, there are already videos breaking down a blog entry. No, we don’t have a release date yet. Be still, my dogs of war.
