Ah, the 30-minute MGS V gameplay demo is here

We can all pretty much agree that the E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain was awesome. Prior to the event, Hideo Kojima said that it would be hard to watch. and could possibly be more traumatizing for audiences than last year’s trailer. While there were no scenes of bombs being pulled out of bodies, or torturing of prisoners before their execution in Camp Omega, it was clear from this year’s E3 trailer that Big Boss is a pretty dark goddamn place. Kojima has this whole trailer thing down to a science. Haunting songs and montages, then some dialogue. It’s worked for pretty much every Metal Gear Solid trailer, and he’s yet to produce a bad one.

Now, amazing as that trailer is, Metal Gear fans were more than a little disappointed when the much talked about 30 minute gameplay demo wasn’t shown to the public at E3. Pretty much everyone that had access to the demo behind closed doors has posted the same play-by-play breakdown of it, but at a certain point you want to actually see Snake’s horse take a dump and watch a goat wander around Mother Base (no, it’s not Big Shell. No, it’s not Outer Heaven). Last night it was announced that the public could finally see the 30 minute gameplay demo, but it was going to be a stream airing at 6 AM EST/3 AM PST which…sucks. Fortunately, you can watch a re-airing of the stream to whet your insatiable appetite for stealth badassery, base building and goat farming.

Skip to the 50 minute mark for the demo.
