Activision spending a reported $500 Million on Destiny

Dear god. Look, most of us here at MiddleEasy have at one point in our lives had a serious thing for Halo. If not, then we’ve at least enjoyed playing Halo online, like most of you probably have as well. There are a lot of factors that have gone into why Destiny is getting a lot of hype, from the studio’s first post-Halo release, to moving to Activision to trying something new, but it turns out, it’s really all about the money. How much money? A lot of money.

According to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick Activision will spend a projected $500 million on the development and marketing of Destiny. Yes, you read that correctly, $500 million. Grand Theft Auto V seemed crazy with $260 million, but $500 million is just kind of goofy. Destiny is set to be an online first person shooter that will integrate RPG-like leveling systems and be primarily focused on cooperative play. They insist that it is a lot more than Borderlands, but from what we’ve seen thus far it looks a lot like Borderlands. [Source]
