Unlike Werdum/Velasquez 2, this is a heavyweight fight that we can all get behind. Mark Hunt versus Bigfoot Silva was one of the most incredible fights of all time. Some call it just a great heavyweight fight, but that’s debasing everything truly amazing about this 2013 fight. Both men gave it there all and then some. Their blood mixed and perhaps they each took something from each other that will never be replaced, considering their W/L ratios since drawing on that fateful December night.
Will the sequel live up to the first battle? No. But that doesn’t matter. This rematch in a UFC full of rematches works because now we can finally have a clear winner of the series. Unlike Miesha/Ronda 7, or Cain being clearly beaten by Werdum and yet still getting a rematch because he brings in an audience that Werdum can’t.
