Dumb things said about fighting Ronda Rousey today: ‘I wouldn’t change a thing about my approach’ – Cat Zingano

When you lose by submission in fourteen seconds in a UFC title fight you should rethink your approach, not change a damn thing about it. In one of the dumber things said by an MMA fighter recently, Cat Zingano spoke to MMA Fighting and said that she wouldn’t change a thing about her epic failure of an approach against Ronda Rousey:

“I wouldn’t change a thing about my approach. Had it been a couple inches in the other direction, it could have gone a completely different way.”

“That was probably my biggest mistake. Really thinking about doing it for other people versus doing it for myself. As long as I stay true to myself in this sport and in my career, I am unstoppable. I felt like it was an unfair definition of me, I don’t think I’m a slow starter. For some reason, I let it get to me, so I was like, ‘okay, watch this.’ That kind of slapped me in the face. I was just, in retrospect its something I want to have a lot more control over and not let it get to my head.”

What? If you low-flying knee was a couple inches in the other direction, then you maybe would have made contact with Ronda once. I guess that’s a “completely different way” but I’m not sure. Maybe having a single offensive maneuver land in the title fight. Maybe Cat should focus on a smart game plan instead of saying silly things.
