Over the last 24 hours, UFC fighter Matt Mitrione engaged in a disappointingly reserved and exasperatingly pleasant Q&A on the Underground Forum. The fighter, who was once suspended for his comments about transgender fighter Fallon Fox, said nothing controversial at all over the course of an entire day.
Mitrione’s self-control, although frustrating , was at least surprising, considering he once noted on the MMA Hour that Tito’s girlfriend at the time, Jenna Jameson, was “awesome off her back” and that she “doesn’t choke easily.” But when given an opportunity to talk about a trip to Thailand, for instance, he perplexingly answered, “If I told tall (sic) that series of stories, I’d get fined another 15k minimum.” Even his confession that he liked “big butts and cannot lie,” seemed hollow, as if he were reading lyrics from the scribbled back pages of a Gideon Bible during a sober stay in a midwest hotel.
He likes Glory over K1, might believe in ghosts, would enjoy having a beer with a stranger, and would scream if he discovered snakes on his plane, all a load of noncontroversial pleasantry that was frankly somehow ironically offensive given what we have become accustomed to as Mitrione fans.
