REPORT: Jon Jones Beasts Through Rehab, Overcoming Addiction in Just One Night

BINGHAMTON, New York, January 13th, 2015 — UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones has overcome yet another foe with ease this past week. After the systematic dismantling of Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 it became public knowledge that Jon Jones failed a drug test earlier in December of 2014, testing positive for cocaine. Due to what is considered moderately confusing drug testing rules and UFC’s own lack of actual standards Jones was able to compete unimpeded after testing positive for cocaine during his training camp.

When it became public that Jon Jones tested positive for cocaine the world was immediately told that Jones admitted that he had a problem and had checked himself into a rehabilitation facility at an undisclosed location and was seeking professional help. Jones, whom many consider to be less-than-truthful in his many public endeavors, has had his fair share of doubters over his drug problem. Many have publicly raised the question of Jones using a possible addiction problem as a defensive shield from public criticism.

Those accusations have proven to be unfounded when WBNG 12 of Binghamton New York spoke exclusively with Jon Jones’s mother, who revealed that her son — a well-known quick learner — spent just one night in a rehabilitation facility. Camille Jones explained that Jon had fallen victim to peer pressure while around friends the evening before the unannounced drug test and that thankfully they were able to nip the problem in the bud. She continued to explain that Jones will continue to educate himself on the perils of drug use and will attend the AFC Championship game this coming weekend in Foxboro, Massachusetts where his brothers, Chandler and Arthur, are set to face each other from opposing teams yet again.

If Jones does indeed have a serious drug problem one would hope that his one night in rehab was enough for the young champion to overcome his demons. If not, well, this reporter refuses to speculate.
