Roy Nelson Hair Donation Changes Young Man’s Life

“When I got the cancer diagnosis, I thought my life was over,” Danny Trauserschnauf said. “But it was just beginning.”

Doctors diagnosed Danny with type-4 leukemia in December 2013. Chemotherapy treatments stole the young man’s energy and, eventually, his hair.

“I was sixteen years old, prom was coming up, and I was bald,” he remembered.“That’s when I got the package from Roy.”

UFC Heavyweight knockout artist Roy Nelson learned about Danny’s fight on Twitter. He donated some of his hair to Danny in February.

“It came in the mail, maybe ten pounds in total,” Danny’s mother said. “Some of it was beard.”

“I actually set it in the garbage.I thought his friend Ben was mailing people dead animals again.”

Danny has been wearing the hair ever since.

“They called the police on my first day back to school,” he remembered.“They thought I was a wino going through lockers.”

“I spent three days in detox, someone offered me a job as a motorcycle mechanic, and I met a 45-year-old waitress from the truck stop on Selby,” he smiled. “We’re getting married when her divorce is finalized.”

“She thinks I’m Michael Bolton.”
