Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Signs with the UFC, Breaking His Bellator Contract

After what felt like a marathon of big announcements from the UFC, last night was another big announcement during the UFC Fight Night event. That announcement was the re-signing of former UFC Light Heavyweight star Quinton “Rampage” Jackson after Jackson left the UFC for Bellator in June of 2013. By all accounts it was not an amicable breakup, with Jackson holding a press conference to slam his former employers and to give googly eyes to Bjorn Rebney and the rest of the crew at Viacom.

It was said that his deal included a reality television show, which is where, apparently Rampage and his team found a breach of contract. After the departure of Rebney this summer and the installment of Scott Coker we’ve seen Rampage publicly talk about how disappointed he has been with Bellator and their treatment of him. It all comes down to the promises that they made to him via a contract, which apparently haven’t been fulfilled.

So last night was considered a bit of a shock, with Rampage being announced as being back in the UFC. Scott Coker quickly took to Twitter to say that Rampage was still under contract and that Viacom’s lawyers were on the case, but Rampage himself issued a statement explaining that there was a breach clause that gave them 45 days to discuss said breach or he could walk from his contract. Apparently he and his team thought it was okay to walk.
