Double Shuriken: Shinobi MMA FC fighter knocks his opponent out two times

If you owned a Commodore 64 or a Sega console, you owned Shinobi, and one of your early martial arts influences was Joe Musashi, the somersaulting protagonist with an unlimited supply of shuriken. If that was your experience, you might not know it, but you’ve been programmed to have a nostalgic connection to Shinobi MMA Fighting Champions in the UK. Thankfully, the promotion won’t break your heart and contaminate all those childhood memories, because they have signed legitimate talent.

Lightweight Birgir Tomasson is a 1-0 amateur from Reykjavík, Iceland. He trains with the undefeated Gunnar Nelson at Mjölnir MMA. His 4-0 opponent Bobby Pallett doesn’t train with Gunnar Nelson, and he didn’t grow up wandering lava fields on the most sparsely populated country in Europe. No need to insert a spoiler. You can see where this is going.

To Bobby’s credit, the southpaw demonstrates solid standup work early on. He even sucks up a nice low blow from the apologetic Icelander. But something happens near the end of Round 2. At the 13:22 mark, Birgir connects with a right hand, Bobby starts to look tired, and the hunt begins.

Five minutes later, around the 17:25 mark, there is a permanent change in the narrative. All hope is lost. Birgir knocks him out once, then knocks him out again for good measure.
