The non-hockey fight uppercut is a technique rarely used in Street MMA, and we see it performed even less as a blow intended for a cheap shot. The odds of an uppercut opening a fight as the first strike are 1:100000 (actual science*). What I’m getting at here, is that an uppercut is just the fourth or fifth option at best in certain scenarios, and this is one magical unicorn of a Street MMA match.
Maybe I’m focusing a little too much on this opening uppercut, but it is the catalyst to one of many lessons that can be found in this edition of A Lesson in Street MMA. First of which would be, don’t throw a wild uppercut like Glass Joe from Punch-Out, then walk towards the guy you just assaulted with your hands down. You just started a fight, and now you’re not trying to end it. The only rightful outcome is for this dude to get knocked out so brutally it’s as if his head had a little star pop out above it so Gray Shirt could tell when he had to punch.
Then one of the greatest Street MMA victory celebrations takes place.
