Criticism based upon age and sexual identity is tricky, because to the right listener, an insult can come off sounding like a pretty nice compliment. For instance, two days after I called Miley Cyrus a “little boy with a tongue like Gene Simmons’s nephew” at a campfire, my uncle bought three copies of the Bangerz album.
I had a similar reaction yesterday to UFC lightweight Mark Bocek’s comments related to a video of Gegard Mousasi training with Ronda Rousey.

“What a waste of time for Gegard, must be a nice guy,” Bocek said. “When I wrestle with a female Olympic silver medalist in wrestling, it feels like wrestling with a 12 year old… You think a woman will beat a man in a fight? Lmao!!!”
I assume Mark had a twelve year old boy in mind, or he could have said something like, “When I wrestle with a 27-year-old female Olympic silver medalist, if feels like I’m wrestling with a 27-year-old female Olympic silver medalist, nahmsayin.” But that would have been redundant.
And so, his comparison of Rousey to a prepubescent young man reminded me of the time Jack McNeeley made me cry through my entire 6th grade year of elementary school. It also reminded me that this kid on YouTube scares the crap out of me.
