People are calling this undefeated fighter the 'Swedish Anderson Silva,' and here's why...

His name is Niklas Bäckström, or Niklas Backstrom for those people that don't know how to make those funny characters on their keyboard. He fights at 145 lbs, has a record of 7-0 and he was born on the same year George H. W. Bush inaugurated as 41st US President. Oh, just a few days ago he front kick KOd a dude in just 15 second, exactly like Anderson Silva did to Vitor Belfort a couple years ago. Of course that's where all the 'Swedish Anderson Silva' comparisons are coming from -- Bäckström still hasn't broke his leg in a fight or danced with Justin Bieber on a Brazilian talk show, yet.

Fortunately we have video of his most recent fight at last weekend's Europa MMA against Max Coga, and it's rather remarkable. Now check out this 'Swedish Anderson Silva,' if you're into that sort of thing.

Zeus is represented by Galactus in his avatar image because he has an immature obsession with Marvel when they went all sci-fi back in the mid 80s. I'm the creator of MiddleEasy and Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Just kidding about the Nickelodeon stuff, but that would be really cool.

That was great. There's been many front-kick ko's since UFC 126, but in all honesty, none have been as picture perfect as the one Anderson threw. Taking his opponent, title defense etc into the equation as well. He matrixed the "fastest hands" in the sport with his head, Then wrapped his toes neatly around Vitor's jaw with his rear foot, Vitor folded in his place like he had been picked off by a sniper.... 1, 2 and over. You couldn't choreograph a more beautiful scene in a movie.... I miss Anderson already. :(

Gave Vitor his one and only KO loss to date (and yes he was on TRT then too).

He wasn't on TRT when he fought Anderson

Quoting Lukeyo:
He wasn't on TRT when he fought Anderson

Yes, he was. Do some research first....

...also, check out this interview where Leben says the beating Anderson gave him had him on queer street for 2 days after the event. (Chris also was undefeated in the UFC and on the brink of a title shot, his chin had not been cracked yet.)

Nice kick. Hope we'll see more of this guy.

I must say I like this Swedish Arianny Celeste more than the US version as well.

Apparently, to be considered a version of Anderson SIlva, a fighter must do one of the following:

1. Find a way to fight effectively without keeping their hands up.

2. Use badass head movement.

3. make someone look like a bitch before you reach "fuck-him-up mode".

4. Front kick the fucker in the face.

If I missed anything, feel free to let me know.

Let's see him do it against higher level competition. The opponent was probably bush league.
0 # hubbe 2014-03-27 17:15
the opponent was 9-1 at that time.

No will to win.

MMA gyms around the world are filled with guys who can dish out, but can't take it. This is what separates the pretenders from the real fighters.

If you're not getting hit in training, and planning around that eventuality, then your training is shit. Curling up in a ball won't even work on the street, you need to fight for your life, have a will to get out of the situation.

I could understand this if say it was the 3rd round and the guy was dealing with exhaustion, but he wasn't KO'd and it was the first few seconds of the 1st round... FIGHT!

No contender ever got TKO'd in the first few seconds of a fight.
