The UFC is hosting an all female TUF show with Invicta FC fighters starting May 2014

I'm pretty sure I just traveled through time at some point today and unfortunately I have no way to prove it. It happened just after I woke up and decided to sit on my sofa to play Grand Theft Auto V. In what seemed like seconds, the sun was setting over Los Angeles and I was covered in a graveyard of pistachio shells and bottles of Shock Top. I tried retracing my steps to see the exact moment when I created my time traveling device and locate where it could be, but it was no where to be found. Now here I am, 8 hours into the future and all I have to show for it is the news that the UFC will be doing an all-female The Ultimate Fighter show which begins filming on May 2014 and it will feature the following strawweights from Invicta FC (plus a few more that will be announced later).

  • Carla Esparza
  • Claudia Gadelha
  • Felice Herrig
  • Joanne Calderwood
  • Tecia Torres
  • Rose Namajunas
  • Bec Hyatt
  • Emily Kagan
  • Alex Chambers
  • Julianna Lima
  • Paige Van Zant

Zeus @MiddleEasy

Zeus is represented by Galactus in his avatar image because he has an immature obsession with Marvel when they went all sci-fi back in the mid 80s. I'm the creator of MiddleEasy and Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Just kidding about the Nickelodeon stuff, but that would be really cool.

I wonder if the final fight will be for the inaugural Strawweight Title.
+11 # GONZO 2013-12-11 17:45
Yup, UFC tweeted about that...TUF will decide the Champ.

This will be the most interesting, relevant and talent packed season of TUF in a long time.

The beginning of the end for Invicta; their 115 division has just been gutted

I have a feeling the UFC will eventually buy out the whole promotion.

Kind of feel for InvictaFC as they're the ones who raised and groomed these women, and now (as usual I must say) the ufc is cherry picking these talented ladies and starring them on their show to make one of them their champion so they'll then be bound to them, and ineligible to fight else were (like returning to their familiar promotion; InvictaFC to fight a couple times there a year). And after the show is over with they'll return the losers to IFC and begin calling them "bush league" or "minor league". It's just a really scum bag move that zuffa continues to do. Underneath all of that, of course, there is a positive for the women as they're now on a way bigger platform and will probably make almost double of what they would've if they stuck to IFC, but this is the type of behavior that shuts down these other orgs. Especially Invicta as they were supposedly "the ufc for women" but now that the ufc is "the ufc for women" so where does that leave them? They had a wonderful thing going. It's just sad, and now they will probably end up getting swallowed whole by the ufc and leave a ton of other women out of the ufc because they aren't "ufc caliber fighters" but still deliver entertaining performances. And I gotta say, Invicta always delivers no matter who is fighting - a rarity now seen in the ufc.

It's complete bullshit and it really pisses me the fuck off. And I know they're using them to pull in higher ratings for that deadbeat show because obviously the females pulled higher ratings than the men did and they figure it will happen again, which it will certainly not. That show is as dead as Invicta will be next year. I love Invicta, and I love Shannon Knapp. Hopefully the ufc will bring in her talents along with the rest of the crew who helped make Invicta what it is.

You sir are a fucktard.

You know Shannon Knapp used to work for the UFC for years and is still good friend with Dana and Lorenzo, right?

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if later it was revealed that Zuffa was behind the Invicta funding to test the female MMA market without putting the UFC brand at risk.

Oh, and Joanne Calderwood is my wife. So everyone better keep their hairy paws off of her.

This is going to GREAT!! Finally a TUF that actually matters and that will be filled with a lot of talent. Going to be some amazing fights. My pick to win is none other then Joanne Calderwood.

There is a line of 20 or more strawweights that aren't signed to the UFC or Invicta that are waiting for their opportunity to fight. Invicta is in the business of building stars and trust me, you haven't seen anything yet!

The UFC and Invicta has a partnership when Invicta builds the stars and UFC takes them, and Invicta is fine with that. As long as Knapp can control the company. There is still 105ers and 125ers and plenty of talent that UFC can't sign due to the law of financial critical mass. If anything, Invicta propbably just got an influx of cash from the UFC in buying the contracts.

As for the season, storylines galore. The Carla incident from this past weekend (aka Team Mean Girls vs. Tecia), Calderwood wanting her shot, with Gahdela make weight for more than once or twice? Plus Bec Hyatt should be a hoot and a half.

Can't wait for the coaches to be announced.

Wow. What a huge acquisition. Namajunas wins in the finals in a rematch of one of the best female fights of the year against Tecia Torres. You heard it here first.

Joanne Calderwood is the greatest thing to ever happen to MMA.

I hope Mark Coleman and Don Frye coaches that season. Or any old pervo i would settle for
-3 # FannaConcusions 2013-12-12 10:50
So what you're telling me is I'm gonna have to pay more for UFCs and skip over MORE of the fights? awesome. That's value right there.
-3 # NoHomo 2013-12-12 13:26
I hate everything about this

Paige Van Zant is hot as fuck. She's in over her head though.
