Scissor chokes don’t always work in MMA, but when they do it’s pretty impressive

Does anyone remember Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat and how her only special move was a scissor grab that was just impossible to pull off? Even her fatality was lame, she gave her opponent a kiss and they exploded. It was never fully explained how or why she had that ability considering the fact that she was just a human in the military. How could you even date someone that’s known to make people spontaneously combust upon lip contact? Imagine if the Pope had that same ability and whenever he kissed the foreheads of believers, half of the Vatican would explode in a bloody mess of awesome.

So the scissor choke never really worked for anyone that has played Mortal Kombat in the past twenty years, but it appears that it was executed flawlessly by Jang Yong Kim this past weekend at PXC 39 in the Philippines. Be sure to go to the 23:00 mark for the goods. Jang actually attempted it twice, the first time was a near submission but somehow Mark Striegl escaped it.
