Tony Lopez explained why he acted like an idiot, and he's not even apologetic

Last night Tony Lopez decided to pull a Babalu Sobral and Paul Daley all rolled in one at KOTC and hold onto a choke while the ref tried to separate them along with serving his opponent a sucker punch after the bell. You can watch the entire incident here if you feel like having your blood boil this early in the morning.

MMA Prime's Aaron Tru was on location at KOTC and even managed to get this brief interview after Tony Lopez's bizarre fight. Keep in mind the California State Athletic Commission has already suspended Tony Lopez indefinitely.

Now check out Tony Lopez explaining why he acted like an idiot, and the explanation isn't that meaningful -- definitely nothing to justify what he did to his opponent.

The only acceptable explanation is that his opponent was BLACK.

I hope you and Lopez get AIDS sharing the same dick.

The guy doing the interview was trying to put words in his mouth and gave him so many opportunities to not come off as douche and he still blew it! Whatever athletic commission sanctioned that fight needs to fine and suspend his dumb ass

The only logical punishment is to deport his rat tail from mma

This guy is clearly partially retarded guys. Lets not be mean.

If there is an anti-frate train/trane list, does Tony Lopez rank higher or lower than Mayhem?

I love that his first excuse was, "Well, he hit me."
-24 # FreeLeeMurray 2013-08-30 07:27
Man... you want to create a sport based around fighting and not expect to have real killer instinct guys in there? Shit like this isn't really cool but it's getting made a bigger deal of than it really is. You're asking them to bring out all the caveman instincts and then just shut that shit off at the bell, sometimes it's not that easy.
+18 # DENV3RtheDESTROY3R 2013-08-30 09:12
It's a sport not a street fight. It's all about respect. Without respect for your opponent, or the sport, MMA just becomes human cockfighting. That attitude will only hinder MMA's growth and keep it out of the mainstream.
+5 # BurntToast 2013-08-30 09:38
This is true, his actions were like those in a street fight. I don't even think you need to have respect for your opponent, just the ruleset and the organisation paying you.

At the end of the day though it made him, KOTC and MMA in general look bad. For that there needs to be some repercussions.
0 # pale 2013-08-30 14:53
I pretty much agree with you, but FUCK mainstream MMA was much better when it wasnt so called mainstream sport.
-18 # mean momma bear 2013-08-30 10:13
If my husband was a fighter and one of his opponents was mad dogging me or being rude and disrespectful in any way to me, it would take all the strength of an army to pull my husband off that fucker, so, what he did may be wrong but when it comes to family, sometimes wrong is right!!!!!!!!! Everybody makes mistakes and people are just so quick to say throw them to the lions, give me a break, they both know what they got into.
+9 # BurntToast 2013-08-30 10:25
Yeah but your husband isn't a fighter. Although I agree that talking shit to a spouse etc isn't right it doesn't automatically qualify you to make a rash and, from your own words, seemingly violent decision.

Maybe if your husband was a fighter he would be getting smashed so frequently in the gym he would develop a more well rounded personality and perspective and be able to objectively think about his decisions about confronting people in this manner, especially those which are probably trying to antagonise him through you.

Tony Lopez had the whole fight to take out whatever aggression he had because of what apparently happened. What does acting like an asshole achieve?
+7 # DENV3RtheDESTROY3R 2013-08-30 10:54
Well said Toast.

Even if he was "mean muggin" he didn't threaten her. He didn't put hands on her. What harm was done?

Real men solve problems like that without violence. Thugs go to jail or an early grave. Wrong is never right.
-12 # MMAsshole 2013-08-30 10:20
Protect yourselves at ALL times, what is so hard to understand about that? All includes before and after the bell.
+8 # Dreius 2013-08-30 12:07
Yeah even if you're unconscious. You have to wake up and protect yourself. I mean that is pretty obvious to everyone right.

Guess what TROLL! You get people's attention, but you still look like a moron.
+5 # BM 2013-08-30 13:52
The fuck? How are you supposed to defend yourself when you're in a rear-naked choke? That's what referees and commissions are for, you simp.
+9 # TheArtimus 2013-08-30 11:06
He should never be licensed again. Holding the choke after the bell or punching an opponent well after the bell are suspend-able offenses (looking at you Semtex). But doing both? Not forgivable. And using the excuse "he hit me" makes it even worse. It's a fight. He was supposed to hit you.
+3 # decapitationstation 2013-08-30 12:03
Im here to show the violent part of the sport what a douche
0 # kuddlesthekid 2013-08-30 12:17
Moral of the story, when Tony Lopez's wife walks by. Look down
-1 # Connor 2013-08-30 13:37
I had to see the gif to understand what this was all about. I've seen Tony fight for years and that was definitely way out of his character, but he's getting what he deserves. Maybe not, perhaps he should be punished further but not banned. I mean, this is totally worse than what Daley did...
+6 # BM 2013-08-30 13:49

fuck you.
0 # Chiggs 2013-08-30 17:48
Of Course he wasnt apologetic. The guys an Idiot. Scumbag fucking move(s) and he should be fined an assload of cash an be barred for at least, at least 2-5yrs..Fucking goof.
+3 # PeteDaMeat 2013-08-31 01:16
The guy probably didn't even look at his wife.

When you do shit like that, you lose peoples respect and you lose your credibility.

And how can a guy that's been on a losing streak like he had been talk about bringing violence back?!

You need to worry about bringin in that new rent check.

He had a chance to apologize and try to save his ass but he let his pride outweigh his intellect.

But maybe that's too much to ask from a guy with a rat tail?!
0 # ispitzhotfire 2013-09-02 13:56
The best way to get even with a guy for hitting you legally in a fight and intelligently defending himself on the ground, is to choke him and sucker punch him well after the fight is over. That's MMA 101...everybody knows that.
