If you wanted to know what the heck happened to Scott Smith, watch this video

I heard the factory that makes that force field around Scott Smith’s chin is hiring. If you live in the Reno, Nevada area then you can probably get a job and do something else besides sit on your sofa and watch reruns of Rosanne. Watching reruns of Rosanne is a good thing to do if you feel the need to individually give the middle finger to every brain cell inside your skull.

If during the course of watching a Scott Smith fight your television starts to starts to flicker, don’t panic. It’s just his force field activating. Evidence of Smith’s technology can be seen in his Strikforce bout with Benji Radach where the dude comes from nearly getting KOd to friggin’ knock out Radach with a single punch in the last round with just a minute and a half left in the fight. If you didn’t accidentally break a lamp when you ran around your living room like a llama with it’s head chopped off then you were obviously watching another fight. If that still didn’t make you want to kick every microwave in your apartment complex, then revisit Scott Smith’s KO of Pete Sell which really could be the greatest knock out of all time.

In 2010 things started to slip away from Scott Smith, and most of this can be attributed to an alcohol dependency problem he developed. The guy would train in the day and drink profusely at night, something that isn’t necessarily conducive to the fighting lifestyle. As a result, Scott Smith went 0-4 in his last four Strikeforce fights and subsequently wasn’t brought to the UFC when the two companies merged.

Now over a year since his last fight, Scott Smith has sobered up and finally hopped back into the MMA game at West Coast Fighting Championship 6 in which he took on Mark “The Machine” Matthews for the WFC middleweight title this month.

Be sure to go to the 9:10 mark for the start of the fight. Props to @RobinSolsbery for the find.
