Alright, so Mike Chiapetta revealed today that Dana White is indeed interested in picking up Bellator free agent (and undefeated welterweight champ) Ben Askren, which makes me wish the UFC kept Fitch on just for that fight, but Askren could definitely make the stacked welterweight division even more interesting. Imagine Askren vs. Demian Maia? Askren vs. GSP and on and on. We’ve always been huge Ben Askren fans here at MiddeEasy, we acknowledge his amazing skill in the cage and on the frisbee golf fields of play.
Next up in Bellator news is that King Mo vs. Emmanuel Newton II will be going down at Bellator 106: The PPV for the interim light heavyweight title, since Attila Veigh is supposedly out injured. This sucks for Emmanuel somewhat, considering he fought to get that title shot, now it will be for the interim belt, but hey – what can you do? In Emmanuel’s case: slam dance the worries away.
And finally, Dana White is actually not going to counter-program the Bellator PPV on November 2nd in a possible show of mercy. Read what he said to MMA Junkie, Bjork reference and everything. All is not full of love between these middle-aged bald, white men. The only demographic that can run an MMA promotion successfully.
