Sit down for this one, Batman WILL be in the next Superman movie
There you have it, folks – Batman is going to be in the next Superman movie. There were rumors and whispers all over social media throughout the morning, so the announcement that the Dark Knight would be in the Man of Steel sequel wasn’t really a surprise, as much as it was a confirmation. What was surprising was Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) quoting one of the most important Batman stories of all time when he appeared on stage and said:
“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
Which comes from the end of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, after Batman and Superman have just pummeled each other on the streets of Gotham. The odd thing though is that Zack Snyder himself said that they are not looking to adapt the story from the comic, yet it would be good to read it to get a feel for the film? So, I have no idea what that even means.
David S. Goyer is also returning to write the film’s script alongside Snyder, and Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman, but there is no word yet on who will be donning the cape and cow as Batman. Christian Bale has already said that his tenure as the Caped Crusader is up, and even though Christopher Nolan might return as the producer of the Man of Steel sequel, his Bat-Trilogy isn’t expected to be in the same continuity as Snyder’s Super-films.
