Straight Shoot Retro: WCW Halloween Havoc 1989

Halloween Havoc 1989, what can you say about that? Oddly enough there are so many recognizable faces on there from top to bottom. Even though this was back in 1989 when WCW was still more of a wrassling organization, they still had some of the feel of late 90’s WCW. *COUGH* THUNDERCAGE MATCH *COUGH*.

To be fair though, the idea of the Thundercage match has potential because let’s be honest, escaping through the door or the top of the cage is so lame. I can’t suspend my disbelief that much, that someone wouldn’t just run straight for the door. It’s awful and I hate it. You should hate it as well, but this match isn’t a match you should hate. The main event featuring a Thundercage match between Ric Flair and Sting with Ole Anderson vs. The Great Muta and Terry Funk with Gary Hart and Bruno Sammartino as special guest referee serving as the special guest referee.

Seriously, if the idea of Terry Funk and The Great Muta teaming up doesn’t get you excited then I don’t know, maybe wrestling just isn’t for you. Even on the slight chance it doesn’t get your blood pumping, then the idea of Ric Flair and Sting teaming up to take them on, HAS to.
