The Simpsons have been on the air for around 25 years. To date, there have been 531 episodes of our favourite yellow people and they have provided memories that we’ll most likely remember for the rest of our lives.
Who can forget when Maggie shot Mr. Burns? Or when Homer attempted (and failed) to jump Springfield Gorge? Or when Homer changed his name to Max Power? Or anything involving Troy McClure? While some say the episodes have declined in quality over the past few years, there is one thing that has remained consistent and that is the couch gags. As the seasons went on, the couch gags have gotten better. They have also gotten longer. Remember when they were six seconds? Now, they’re like some little animated short. It’s great.
Anyway, the twenty-fourth Treehouse of Horror episode airs on Sunday, and the kind people behind the Simpsons (or the kind people of FOX, I don’t know, but someone was kind of enough to do this) have given us an early look at this year’s gag. And it’s a three-minute display of excellence.
Created by Guillermo del Toro, this has to be the best couch gag yet. Filled with references from del Toro films such Hellboy and Blade to Hypnotoad from Futurama and a bunch of other things, it’s incredible. You can check it out here:
