Tony Jaa will make his English-language movie debut on Fast and Furious 7

Anyone notice that the entire Fast and the Furious franchise is slowly turning into The Expendables with cars? In the installment (which will premiere July 11th 2014), Jason Statham will be the villain alongside the usual suspects like The Rock, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson which will all be driving cars really fast and exploding giant explodable machines into fiery clouds of awesome.

Earlier this month we told you Ronda Rousey will play a role in the new Fast and Furious 7, now it appears Thailand’s Tony Jaa will also be in the movie — and we’re assuming he will be backflipping over cars and decapitating heads while he does so. The script for the film hasn’t been completed yet, so we’ll assume screenwriter Chris Morgan will add that scene in for good measure.

If you’ve never seen Ong Bak then you’re doing yourself an incredible disservice. It’s the story of how Ong Bak actually kicks and punches people in Thailand — in different time periods. I’m sure there’s a deeper story than that, but Tony Jaa does all of his own stunts so it doesn’t really matter what the story is. Here’s what Tony Jaa said (via email) about appearing in Fast and Furious 7, his English-lanaugage film debut.

I have been a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production.

So the only question that’s left is if Tony Jaa and Ronda Rousey got into a fight, who would actually win? Props to jersonordavid for the +100 news tip.
