Dave Chappelle is on the cover of Prince’s new single AS PRINCE

Ah, Dave Chappelle. One of the greatest comedians ever. Sadly, he decided to step away from the spotlight. Over the past few years, he has made sporadic appearances in public. He dropped into a few comedy clubs with some new material, only to disappear into the night once he was done as if he were Batman. But no need to worry, Dave is coming back (hopefully for good) as he is scheduled for the upcoming Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival as a headliner.

Thinking about this return, I can’t help but remember the legendary “Chappelle’s Show”. There were so many great, memorable sketches in that show. From “Playa Haters Ball” to the “World Series of Dice”, I doubt that there was one sketch that just wasn’t funny (which is rare with these shows).

A personal favourite of mine is “Charlie Murphy’s Hollywood Stories”. In this sketch, Charlie Murphy would tell the audience tales of his run-ins with various celebrities. One of these stories featured Prince (played by Chappelle), out-classing Murphy’s team in a pick-up game of basketball.

Almost a decade after that one sketch, this happens, Dave dressed up as Prince from the “Hollywood Stories” sketch to be on the cover of Prince’s new single. Glorious.

Seems like Prince found the time between tweeting pictures of salad on Twitter and stunting on people in basketball games to record a single called “Breakfast Can Wait.”
