There you have it, Anderson Silva is open to fighting Jon Jones at a catchweight

Sure Anderson, you may be able to out-box me, submit me within seconds, high-kick my brain into the exosphere, elbow my skull to an adjacent angle and out-dance me, but I would lace him in Halo: Reach. In fact, I can absolutely guarantee that I would beat any current UFC fighter in any variation of Halo — including the highly anticipated Halo 4. However, that’s probably the only thing I could out-anything Anderson Silva in. I could probably type more words than him per minute. There’s a good chance that I could eat more cheese sticks than him, with or without marinara sauce. However, as far as being considered one of the greatest fighters that ever lived — The Spider wins.

According to Brazil’s SporTV, in an interview today during a promotional event in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva said that he has no intention on leaving his UFC middleweight belt, but if a fight against Jon Jones goes down — it would be at a catchweight.

People are talking about it. I don’t have such intentions, there isn’t any motive to do so, mostly because there are several people form my team who belong to his weight class Minotouro, Maldonado, Feijao, Caldeirao. My weight is 84kg, that’s my title. But lots of people talk about it, and some of those are UFC’s emploees. It’s obvious, I might be sayimh that I don’t want, but if he accepts the money Dana offers him? It is going to get tough. It isn’t the cash that makes me do what I do, I fight because I like it. I don’t know…I wouldn’t like. But if it’s going to happen it would have to be in catch weight. His belt wouldn’t be on the line. I alredy have my title, I don’t want my title to be on the loose.

There you have it, the ‘Pacquiao vs. Mayweather’ match-up in MMA has just gotten a little bit more feasible. That is, if Jon Jones and Anderson Silva can agree on a weight in-between 205 lbs and 185 lbs. Props to João André Frutuoso and Georgia Nasralla for the Portuguese-to-English translation.
