This newly re-released footage shows how emotional Anderson Silva was after his loss to Ryo Chonan

A couple years ago at UFC 103, some guy asked me who I thought could defeat Anderson Silva. I told him Ryo Chonan and he looked at me as if I suddenly transformed into a velociraptor and started clawing at his bottle of Michelob Ultra. Luckily, Michael Schiavello was next to me so I pulled my ‘Schiavello, you know Ryo Chonan?’ card and I got instant confirmation in the form of an Aussie accent and a witty metaphor (yeah, that’s really how he talks all the time).

Ryo Chonan is really the last guy that beat Anderson Silva. He caught him with an insane flying scissor heel hook that had Silva smacking the mat immediately. We can’t really count Yushin Okami’s victory over Anderson Silva because it came by way of disqualification from an illegal kick in the first round (Silva didn’t even get a warning). When we interviewed King Mo he told us that when he trains with Ryo Chonan, he calls him Okama-san. Apparently Okama-San means ‘Mr.Gay’ and King Mo told us that it’s a big insult in Japanese culture. At the end of the interview, King Mo also gave a shout-out to his friend Daywalker in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. I asked King Mo if we encountered Daywalker, what should we tell him. He simply said ‘Tell him to start training.’

Most of the backstage footage of Pride FC has been laying dormant in some forgotten corner of a warehouse for years. Now it appears that some of this ultra-rare footage is being re-released by Japan’s ‘Samurai Fight Spirits‘ and now we have an in-depth look on the emotional distress Anderson Silva was in after his loss to Ryo Chonan on December 31, 2004 at ‘Pride Shockwave 2004.’ [Source]
