If you were to canvass one hundred people in the street, asking them to describe a mixed martial artist you might get blank stares, so imagine instead you ask them to describe a cage fighter. The composite image created from these descriptions would either look like one of WorldOverEasy’s MMAliens or look exactly like Gilbert Yvel. Ok, so they may miss out the Dutch nationality and the purple belt in BJJ but everything else would be spot on, from his shaven head and heavily tattooed appearance down to his striking prowess and disciplinary issues. Thinking about it, I’ve just also described my Gran.
Unlike my Gran however, Yvel has decided to drop down from heavyweight to 205lbs after a three fight losing streak in the UFC, yet still manages to look smaller than Anthony Johnston. As well as some weight, he also appears to have dropped his general disdain for humanity.
