Dan Henderson says he nearly accepted a spot on the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix

People think when I wear shorts I’m showing off my tattoo, but that’s not the case. I’m showing off the ability that I can wear half-a-pants and still function in society. Sort of like how Dan Henderson has a set of dentures, but conveniently hides them in his persona of ‘unbelievable roughneck hardass’. There’s only one person on this planet that asked Henderson to remove his dentures before a fight, and that person managed to grab a unanimous decision over Hendo at UFC 75. That fight was at light heavyweight, a division we’ve seen Dan Henderson compete at in the past. Now in an interview with Sherdog’s ‘Savage Dog Show‘, Dan Henderson said that he nearly accepted a spot on the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix.

“They had kind of approached me about fighting in that heavyweight tournament just to see how I’d feel about it,”

“I think there’s a couple of matchups that would have been interesting for me or fun to do. I don’t think I would have won the tournament by any means, but possibly. Of course I said that when I went into that Rings ‘King of Kings’ tournament. I didn’t think I was going to win it, but I was going to do my best.”

Unfortunately, this fight would be impossible to replicate in EA Sports MMA since Dan Henderson isn’t an available character at heavyweight — which, of course, makes it impossible to manifest in the real world. [Source]
