Wow Velasquez vs Silva and JDS vs Reem are both going down at UFC 160

Sometime prior to UFC 155 there must have been some sort of corruption of the Fourth Dimension of Time and we were slipped into a tangent universe where all things were the same except for the UFC Heavyweight division-because this is simply not the way most of our MMA community pictured 2013 to go down for the biggest dudes in the UFC. We can live with the changes in the Heavyweight division but if giant rabbits named Frank start running around in Dana White’s vlogs then we need to be worried that maybe the universe as we know is actually about to end in some strange Donnie Darko-esque fashion.

Until that happens, let’s just focus on how the UFC Heavyweight division got thrown for a disruptive loop: For the last year or so, the fight everyone was banking on seeing was JDS vs The Reem. Cain Velasquez wasn’t down for that nonsense though and avenged his first loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 155. This put JDS out of the running for the fight with the re-licensed and returning Alistair Overeem. Then a little over a month later, Alistair Overeem is the seeming favorite in his return to the Octagon fight over Bigfoot Silva-and he also gets taken out. If this was the movie Looper, these unexpected losses would be like a couple of retired looper targets getting away and potentially disrupting the entire order of the universe-or in this case the slate of fights Joe Silva’s brain had lined up for 2013 in the Heavyweight division.

These two unexpected losses happened and now it’s as though the retired looper on the run has finally been found and the loop is now about to close after all  because despite the strange turn of events-it was announced on Tuesday’s UFC Tonight show (while some of us were tucked in our beds snoring and slobbering on our nubby pillow cases) that JDS vs The Reem is now going down afterall. And Cain Velasquez vs Bigfoot is going down, too.

JDS vs Reem. Cain vs Bigfoot. On the same night. In the same venue. Co-headling what is likely going to be the heaviest card of 2013- UFC 160 on May 25th in Las Vegas! Wow! [Source]
